Massage is one of the oldest forms of therapy and healing. The power of touch and the healing benefits this can bring should never be underestimated. When a fellow human being is in pain or distress, to touch to try to relieve their suffering is instinctual.
Tuina is a specialised form of Chinese massage that utilises various manipulative and massage strokes together with acupressure upon specific points, with the aim of increasing the circulation of blood and energy (Qi) within the meridians and muscles to promote the healing process.
Tuina, unlike other massage techniques is most frequently given over light clothing and without the use of oils, however on some occasions, such as before or after needling a larger area, Tuina may be applied to the skin with oil.
Tuina is performed alongside an acupuncture treatment when required and is not available as an individual treatment by itself.
